Four days inside the 1,510 km² grassland of the Maasai Mara — the northern stage of the Great Migration. You'll fly in from Wilson Airport (skipping the 6-hour road), land on a strip steps from your tented camp, and spend two and a half days tracking lion prides, leopard couples, cheetah hunts and (in season) wildebeest river crossings with a Maa-speaking ranger who grew up on this land. Two nights at a riverside tented camp with hot bucket showers, paraffin lamps and dinner under the stars. Optional dawn balloon flight on day 3 — the photographs people travel here for.
"Saw the river crossing on day 3. Our ranger Saruni had us at the right bend at 11:30, three hours before the herd showed up. He knew."
"Balloon on day 3 was the splurge of a lifetime. Champagne breakfast on the savanna with a leopard 200m away in the grass. Surreal."
"The Maasai homestead wasn't a tourist trap — we sat with the village elder for an hour, no agenda. Felt like real."
"Flew in instead of driving — best $300 I've ever spent in Africa. 4 hours saved each way. Just do it."
The 1.5M-strong wildebeest herd is in the Mara roughly July–October each year — they cross from Serengeti north into Kenya, then push back south. Peak river-crossing weeks are usually late Jul → early Sep, but it's nature: no operator can guarantee a day. Outside those months, cats and the rest of the Big 5 are still on the Mara plains in huge numbers.
Fly. The road is 6 hours of corrugated dirt after Narok — beautiful for the first hour, rough for the next five. Our default fly-in saves a full day each way and your back. Driving stays an option if you want the overland feel — subtract $300/pp.
Camp is unfenced. After dark a Maasai askari escorts you between tent and mess. Animals are around — that's the point — but the camp has run 12+ years without an incident. Common-sense rules at briefing.
Yes — popular combo is Mara + Diani Beach (south coast). 4-day Mara → fly Nairobi-Mombasa → 3 nights Diani = a 9-day "bush + beach" classic. Tell us at booking, we'll quote.
Card or M-Pesa for the deposit (we accept Visa/Mastercard/Amex via DPO + Pesapal, or direct M-Pesa STK push to your number). On the ground: tips in USD cash or M-Pesa. The camp settles all your camp extras at check-out — chargeable to the original card.
